What's Happening - Calendar of Events – February 6-11
Here is what’s going on in the Elk Grove Unified School District during February 6-11: February 7: Students at Pleasant Grove Elementary School will enjoy two Wild Things assemblies at 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Each assembly will feature 6-8 animals and includes a presentation about each individual animal, their personal history, as well as its natural history and importance to the environment. February 8: Parents of students at Franklin High School are invited to attend “Take Your Parents/Guardians to School Day” from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Activities for the day include: entertainment from the Franklin Jazz Band and Choir, workshops covering various topics, an opportunity to attend classes with their child, lunchtime activities, a BBQ and raffle prizes. February 8: Parents of students at Edward Harris, Jr. Middle School are invited to the next session of Parent University from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. This month’s topic is “Jump Start to College.” February 9: Elk Grove Elementary School will host an Explorit “Health in Your World” Science Night at 6 p.m. This event will showcase projects from Elk Grove Elementary students. In addition, hands-on activities demonstrating science and health will give families an opportunity to explore science together. February 9: Edward Harris, Jr. Middle School will hold an incoming 7th grade student/parent meeting from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the multipurpose room. Students and parents will learn about the class registration process, Harris’ academic program and upcoming events at Harris. February 10: It’s “Take Your Parents to School Day” at Charles Mack Elementary School from 8:15 a.m. to 10 a.m. Parents will accompany their children to their “W.I.N. Time” class as well as their homeroom class. Parents will also attend a town hall-style meeting with Mack administrators where they will have a chance to ask questions about the school and their students. Refreshments will be provided at the town hall meeting and parents will have a chance to win books through special giveaways. February 11: Cosumnes River Elementary School will hold their annual Father/Daughter Dance at 6 p.m. in the multipurpose room. Fathers, uncles, grandfathers and anyone with a “princess” attending Cosumnes River is invited to come out and spend an enjoyable evening full of music, refreshments, dancing and desserts. Every Father-Daughter couple will have a photo taken to preserve the memories. February 11: Laguna Creek High School will hold a crab and tri-tip dinner fundraiser at 6 p.m. at the Sacramento Asian Sports Center. This event will feature a silent auction, raffle, music and dancing. Tickets are $45 per person, $80 per couple and $280 for a table of eight.
